Inlayed Jar
Thrown as two separate forms, this jar was inlayed with blue slip and holes carved into the lid and rim of the pot to allow waxed thread to seal the vessel.
Intended as a sculptural piece or a utilitarian vessel, allowing the user to determine if they want to keep the jar closed or allow it to be opened.
This jar was fired in Fired to Cone 10 in Lisa Orr’s Rocket Kiln building workshop.
During the workshop we built a rocket kiln that Lisa designed based off of rocket ovens out of recycled materials. This kiln is intended to be smokeless and perfect for potters who are wanting to experiment with atmospheric firing in an urban environment.
