Trinket Jar with Local Slip
Fired to Cone 6 in Lisa Orr’s Rocket Kiln building workshop, this jar was thrown as a closed form allowing a small hole for tying off found objects. This vessel has Catoosa County clay from my brother Daniel’s yard painted on with a handmade brush, and it is glazed with an ash glaze with ash from a recent camping trip.
During the workshop we built a rocket kiln that Lisa designed based off of rocket ovens out of recycled materials. This kiln is intended to be smokeless and perfect for potters who are wanting to experiment with atmospheric firing in an urban environment.
